What is your most memorable childhood experience?
My most memorable childhood experience is working with my grandparents, selling hamburgers outside their house. When I lived in Mexico, I spent most of the time at my grandparent's house, they lived very close to my house, and I really liked spending the day with them. They offered me a job when I was about 10 years old, and I was in charge of cooking the fries and ordering the food for the customers. Those days were the most beautiful because I spent all night with my grandparents listening to stories about when they were young and the adventures they had with my mom and my aunts and uncles.
What immediate family member do you closely identify with and why?
The relative with whom I identify the most is my older brother. The reason why I identify more with him is because we like the same things in common, in terms of food, style of dress, music, etc. And another reason is that we have almost the same sense of humor, the same behavior, and the same seriousness when meeting new people.
What character traits do you admire in an individual?
Loyalty is something I admire a lot in a person, the trust that someone will be there for you, that they'll do right by you no matter what, is a special quality for me. Generosity is something I also admire. Being generous can lead others to admire you, especially in professional or social environments that sometimes breed unhealthy competition. And finally, honesty. Honest people hold the truth in high regard and try to act with sincerity toward others.
What is the funniest thing ever to happen to you?
The funniest thing that happened to me in my life was when I was about 13 years old while I was taking care of my nephew. My nephew was about 5 years old, and he loved playing ball in the street, riding his bike, etc. I was in charge of watching over him so that nothing bad happened to him, the problem was when I went inside of the house for 3 minutes helping my mother, and when I returned, I found my nephew in his underwear, riding a street dog. Seeing my nephew riding a street dog saying it was his horse and he was a cowboy is something I will never forget.
If time and money were not an issue, where would you travel and why?
If money and time were not an issue right now, I would love to visit El Salvador. In high school I met a person who grew up most of his life in El Salvador, and he told me how beautiful its beaches were and that's why I would like to visit them. And another country that I would like to visit would be Egypt, its culture and its history seem very interesting to me, and I would like to learn more about it in person.
When and if you ever have children, what would you like to pass on to them?
I would like to pass on to them the importance of physical interaction with their friends and loved ones, because I have noticed that many children have lost the desire to go out to the park with friends, due to technology. Another thing would be respect, that was something my parents passed on to me and my siblings and I think it is one of the most important values? That a child should begin to learn from a very young age. And finally, it would be teaching them empathy, because I think that to have successful relationships, you have to know how people are feeling and respond appropriately.
